Dear Science ’83 Classmates

Can you believe it’s been 25 years since we graduated from Queen’s?? Our 25th reunion is planned for September 26, 27 & 28 and with you there, we can show the graduating class of 2011 (yes, 2011!) what the Queen's spirit is all about!

The Science ’83 class reps have begun the planning for our 25th reunion.   All of the Science '83 plans and updates for Homecoming can be found at our website http://www.Science83.com

In addition to the football game, and other homecoming fun, there will be a number of Science ’83 events for you and your family.   The main events are shaping up as follows:

1. Friday night pub night, either at Clark Hall, or (since Clark Hall may not be open) at a local Kingston pub,
2. Saturday night Class dinner on or near campus
3. Sunday brunch at a downtown location.

We would like to hear your views about the plans for the weekend.   Please spend 5 minutes completing a very easy online survey about your preferences.   Click here to complete the survey.  Feel free to also contact the Science ’83 Class reps.  Their contact information is on this website and at the bottom of this email.

We hope to see you in September, so here is what you should do, as soon as you can:

1. Pre-register online at homecoming.queensu.ca to attend Homecoming 2008! By pre-registering you will receive the Homecoming Program booklet by mail (your guide to events happening Homecoming Weekend) and your name will also appear online as returning for the weekend. Let us know if you are coming, and see who else is returning.

2. Book a hotel room.  A limited block of hotel rooms has been booked for Science ‘83 at the following hotels.   The block booking will expire soon, so please reserve your room promptly.

3. Check out the rest of the Science '83 website. All of the current plans and information about the reunion will be posted here.   We’ve also posted some information about the Science ’83 Class, 25 years later, that you may find interesting.  Please take a moment to register your email address so we can keep you posted on Class news and events by email. Do you have any old photos to share with the Class?  Dig up your old albums, find a scanner and share the fun. We’d like to post them on the website.

The Golden Gaels will host Western on Saturday, September 27 with a 1 pm kick-off at Richardson Stadium.  If you would like to attend the football game you must purchase your tickets early. This game is traditionally sold-out before Homecoming Weekend arrives! To ensure seating with our class, buy your tickets early and be sure to indicate Science ‘83 when you buy your tickets. (Tickets will be available starting in June and can be purchased either online at homecoming.queensu.ca or by calling 1-800-267-7837 – but if you register,  we’ll send you an email when they go on sale)

Over the past two decades, many of you have generously donated to the Mark Latham Memorial Fund.  Mark was a special friend, and a huge influence on campus.  Each year a 4th year Applied Science student receives the award of about $4,000.  In addition to good academic standing, the recipient is a well rounded student combining enthusiasm and leadership with integrity and a sense of humour – just like Mark. As part of our 25th Reunion plans, we want to dramatically increase the size of this fund and we are asking for your help.  Click here to learn more about the Mark Latham Award.
